Complete with click-through streetmap extracts. From Hope, take the road at the side of the post office. Follow until you cross over a narrow bridge, then as the road bears left continue straight up, turning left at the junction. This tales you up to the old roman road, and eventually to Hope Cross.

From Hope cross, turn left and descend to Jaggers clough, then climb back out and descend to the road. Turn right and head into Edale. Optional cafe stop at the station cafe. After your optional stop, back to the main road and turn right then first left (here), following the road as it bends left, then right. Go through the gate on the left here.

Once through the gate, the left hand path is vaguely rideable up to Hollins Cross, while the right hand path is a carry directly up to Mam Tor. From Hollins Cross follow the paved Bridleway round the back of Mam Tor (that's the path to the right as you ascend!), and down to the road. Turn left, climb and pass through Mam Nick then descend.

Turn left at the junction, then right after 500yards and then right again after 400 yards. Follow the road for about a mile.Take the first left, almost doubling back on yourself onto a hardpack road and ascend slightly along the side of the quarry, then make a choice when you reach the first gate

(option 1) descend to Old Dam. At the bottom, turn left then carry on straight up when the road bears right. Climb for a short distance then turn left down track to farm, exiting on bridleway to right of farm which ascends through orchard. At major junction, turn right along the hardpack road.

(option 2 - carry straight on along the road)
(all cut-out routes rejoin here)

Now descend Dirtlow Rake and Pindale. Dirtlow Rake is a half mile of pure unadulterated fun - look for "the kamikaze" on www.mtbbritain.co.uk for a video of it. On joining the road, carry straight on then after 50 yards turn right, then left down Pin Dale. Straight on to finish in hope, near the cafe. Have a pie, go for a pint.

Should be about 17 miles if you take option 1, and take about 2 and a half to three hours.

Moderate difficulty? Never know how to rate rides, really.
